One driver, several lamps
Hood lighting is rarely a row of independent bulbs. Where the brightness can be altered, something has to be doing the altering, and that shared piece is the driver. It matters for diagnosis because it makes the lamps behave as a group: whatever happens to one of them is rarely a private matter. On a hood with plain lamps and no dimming there may be no driver at all, and then each lamp really is on its own.
Half out is a driver, one out is a lamp
Use the count. A single dark lamp with the rest steady is that lamp or its socket, and it is the smallest job on this page. Several gone together, or all of them wavering in step, is a supply problem, and the driver is where supply problems begin. Lamps that dip as the blower steps up are a third thing again, and the feed is the suspect.
Dimming that has stuck at one level
Brightness refusing to move is either the control failing to send the change or the driver failing to act on it. Testing follows the cost: the command is confirmed first, at the buttons or at the wall plate, and only then is the driver’s output examined across the string. The lamps themselves come last, because a set all reading alike has already said it was never about them.
What putting it right costs
This one has no published band. Wolf Repair Los Angeles puts a figure on it after the diagnosis, as one number covering the part and the labour, and nothing is ordered until you have agreed it — (310) 626-4008.
A flat $89 buys the call-out and a full diagnosis, and that $89 is deducted from the repair once you have approved it.
Follow-ups
Can I just buy bulbs for a Wolf hood?
Sometimes, and sometimes the lamp is a sealed unit supplied as a service part for that model. Worth establishing which before ordering anything off a shelf, because a module shaped like a bulb will not accept one. Wolf Repair Los Angeles identifies it from the model, on (310) 626-4008.
The lights flicker only when the blower goes to high. What is that?
A shared supply telling you something. A motor pulling hard at full speed can drag a common feed down far enough for the lamps to show it, so the reading that counts is taken with the hood working rather than sitting idle. It points at the feed or the motor, not the lighting.
